AI Agents for Accountants

Eight lessons on delegating routine work to an assistant — posting documents, reconciliations, draft returns — while keeping control and the signature.

schedule Hours≈20

The block teaches accountants to hand routine work to AI without losing control of the result. The agent posts documents, prepares reconciliations, drafts returns and answers standard client questions; the accountant reviews and signs.

The golden rule of the course: AI prepares the draft, the accountant reviews and files. No return goes to the tax agency without human review.

Lessons in this block

AI1. How it works and where it fails

How language models and agents work, their limitations, the nature of hallucinations and why verification matters especially in accounting.

Practice: the prompt “explain Modelo 130 to a client in Russian”, followed by checking the answer against the tax agency’s official manual.

AI2. Prompting for accountants

The structure of a working request: role, context, output format and examples. Building a personal prompt library in both languages.

Practice: fifteen ready-made templates — a letter to the tax agency, an analysis of an information request, a contract translation and an explanation of a tax to a client.

AI3. Connecting the assistant to Holded

Setting up the connection through Holded’s official MCP server: which data the assistant can reach and how to limit its permissions.

Practice: connecting the training account in read-only mode.

AI4. The analyst agent

Unpaid invoices, treasury position and a VAT and income tax forecast for the quarter ahead.

Practice: producing a full client report from a single request.

AI5. The reviewer agent

Reconciling Modelo 303 against the statutory registers, spotting duplicate documents, invoices missing the withholding they should carry, and anomalous expenses.

Practice: building a pre-filing checklist.

AI6. Document processing

Recognising invoices, classifying transactions against PGC accounts, and reading bank statements in PDF and Excel.

Practice: fifty source documents turned into journal entries.

AI7. Automating the practice

Assembling your own practice assistant: the tax calendar, client correspondence templates and connections to working files and email.

Practice: an AI assistant tailored to one specific practice.

Personal data protection under the GDPR and Spanish data protection law, the requirements of the EU AI Act, client confidentiality, scoping agents’ access rights, and the accountant’s responsibility for the outcome.

Practice: drafting an AI usage policy for the practice.

The tool behind the block

Holded provides an official MCP server through which Claude and other assistants can read data and — where permissions allow — create invoices, contacts and payments. Holded offers two access profiles; the read-only profile excludes payroll, developer tokens and banking mandates by default (Holded’s instructions).

On the course agents operate in read mode; write operations are practised only on the demonstration account.
